Leadership
TARs is led by an executive board, elected by the TARs at their annual convention at Camp Rimrock each July. This year Amanda Randall of Aberdeen is serving as TAR Chair.
There is also an advisory board that helps the executive board, and plans major events, such as TAR Days and TAR Camp. Public Utilities Commissioner Dusty Johnson serves as the state advisor to the Teen Age Republicans.
Amanda Randall, 2007-2008 TAR Chairman
Amanda Randall is a senior at Roncalli High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Her parents are
Dana and Becky Randall and she also has a younger sister, Kaitlyn (Amanda is on the far left of this photo).
Amanda has been involved in politics since 2002 when John Thune ran against Tim Johnson for the U.S. Senate.
Ever since then, politics has been a huge part of her life. She attended her first TAR Camp in 2004 and has held many TAR offices on the local and state level, including District 2 Representative, Chairwoman of the Brown County TARs, and State Secretary.
Amanda is looking forward to her year as chair. She plans to work hard building new TAR clubs and getting TARs ready for the 2008 elections.
Dusty Johnson, State TAR Advisor
Dusty is a former TAR and served as TAR Chairman in 1994. He and his wife Jacquelyn live in Mitchell where Jacquelyn is a financial advisor. They have a son Maxwell Dice Johnson, who was born in May 2005. Dusty was elected statewide in 2004 to the South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioner. He currently serves as the PUC's chairman.
